What a great day! Our visit to Villa Savoy was terrific. Villa Savoy is a house designed by Le Corbusier in the early 1930’s. It is still as modern now as it was then. The house has one of the best looking staircases and not only that, ramps! You don’t have to climb a single stair to get to any of the three levels of the house, even the roof patio and gardens. After touring the house we sat on the lawn and sketched it. I must say, it ended up being one of my better sketches.
After Villa Savoy, we stopped in for lunch at Kong in Paris. Kong is a cool restaurant bar that is owned by avant-garde designer Philipe Stark. The food was good and the décor was cool. It was neat to have lunch while sitting the very chic Ghost Chair.
Leaving Kong , we headed to the Musee de Orsay. This museum features impressionist art by artists such as Monet, Renoir, and Van Gogh. Seeing some of their famous works was impressive. It was fun to be able to recognize some of their works with out having to read the painting‘s info.
From the museum a few of us walked and walked from the Louvre to get to the Arc de Triomphe. This arch was build by Napoleon and spectacular views of Paris can been seen from the top.
