Fontainebleau

7/18
Because these chateaus can become confusing as to which is which, I will be posting these two sites separately even though I visited them on the same day.

In the afternoon we took a bus to Fontainebleau. This was the royal getaway. It took us about an hour or so to arrive from Paris. The palace underwent various changes between kings and when Napoleon was in power.

Fontainebleau has the only remaining authentic throne room left in France. The throne room you see would have been used by Napoleon. The throne itself has the wasp markings of the Emperor Napoleon, yet the rest of the room is still covered with symbols and decoration that remind you this room was once used by the Kings of France.
