Haddon Hall

7/31
We visited Haddon Hall which is unique because it is from medieval times and it has survived in that form. Apparently the place was shut up and left alone for about 200 years so when the owners got back to it, it had escaped Victorian renovations. It was nice to see this house from earlier times. As we went through the our guide told us of things that were done in the house that have become phrases even in our modern day language. Sayings such as “the upper crust,” “threshold,” and “chairman of the board” call come from this time period and how life was lived then.
